Sheriff

By Statute, the Sheriff is responsible for keeping the peace within Pulaski County.

As Sheriff, my main objective is the protection of human life, the reduction of crime, providing and maintaining a safe and peaceful environment in which constitutional rights are safeguarded. My Deputies and I are qualified by the Illinois Training and Standards Board, which is mandated by the State of Illinois. We provide superior services in partnership with the communities that we are sworn to protect and serve.

Open communication issued daily to improve the quality of life in Pulaski County. My staff and I are dedicated to working with the citizens of our County in resolving problems arising from all aspects of law enforcement.

In service to our communities, there is a non negotiable value “Our highest priority is the protection of human life”. We achieve public trust by showing personal integrity and by serving all people with respect, dignity, and honesty in a consistent and ethical manner. We will perform our duty with reverence toward human values, always mindful of individual diversity. We are faithfully committed to our profession, our county and the law. My Department and I are committed to working “hand in hand” with our community to develop mutual trust through identifying, understanding and meeting the needs determined by the neighborhoods we serve.

The Pulaski County Highway Department is responsible for county highways and county unit road district roads maintenance and repair. The highway department is responsible for 238 miles of highways and 68 bridges.

The primary responsibilities of the highway department include:

- Drainage improvements and maintenance
- Inspection and repair of bridges
- Pavement repair
- Snow removal
- Right of way mowing and cleaning

Tri-County Justice & Detention Center Contract Monitor/Board Administrative Assistant

Hello, my name is Gayla Jones and I am the Contract Monitor for the Tri-County Justice & Detention Center and the Administrative Assistant for the Pulaski County Board of Commissioners. The Tri-County Justice & Detention Center is located off of Interstate 57, exit 18 at 1026 Shawnee College Road, Ullin, Illinois, 62906. Pulaski County built the 226 bed Facility in 1999. It is owned by the County and it boast to be the only privately ran detention facility in the state of Illinois. Pulaski County holds a contract with the U.S. Marshals Service and The Department of Homeland Security to house their detainees. The County is also bound through an Intergovernmental Agreement with Alexander and Union County Illinois to house their inmates.View Photo
